In the Superior
Court of Sonoma County State of California In the matter of the Estate
of Didamia Cockrill Deceased To Hon. John G. Pressley Judge of the
Superior Court of Sonoma County State of California. The Petition of Ida J. Cannon of Bloomfield Sonoma
County State of California and William W. Fowler of San Francisco State of
California, respectfully shows: That Didamia
Cockrill died on the 26th day of October A.D. 1886 at Bloomfield, Sonoma
County, California. That said deceased at the
time of her death was a resident of the county of Sonoma in said State of
California and left an estate in said count consisting of both real and
personal property. That the probable value and
character of said property are as follows: Two
houses and lots in the town of Bloomfield in said Sonoma one of which is worth
about $500.00 the other about $2000.00: a tract of land in Mendocino County,
California, the size character and value of which is at this time unknown to
petitioners. Personal property consisting of [?] chooses in action household
and kitchen furniture, [?] about the value of Eight Thousand Dollars -- the
exact amount notice [?] and value of said personal property to is not at this
time known to petitioners. That the estate and
effects for or in respect of which the probate of the will have after mentioned
is applied for, does not exceed the sum of twelve thousand dollars. That said deceased life a will [?]ing date the 24th
day December A.D. 1881, which your petitioners believe and therefore allege [?]
the last will and testament of said deceased and which is herewith presented to
said Superior Court. That said testators[?] in
said will appointed said Ida J. Cannon and WIlliam W. Fowler the executors of
her said will. That said Ida J. Cannon was at
the date of said will and is now a [?] woman. That she is over twenty one years
of age and resides at Bloomfield Sonoma County that said William W. Fowler is
over twenty-one years of age and resides at 804 Jones Street San Francisco,
California. That said Ida J. Cannon William W. Fowler, T. G. Cockrill who is
twenty one years of age and resides in San Francisco, California, R. L.
Cockrill who is twenty-one years of age and resides in San Francisco,
California. Lake who is over twenty-one years of age and resides at Bloomfield
Sonoma County California. Hoag who is over twenty-one year of age and resides
at Santa Rosa in Sonoma County, California; Bruce G. Cockrill who is over
twenty-one years of age and resides at Bloomfield Sonoma County, California,
Fred H. Miller who is over twenty-one years of age and resides at Greenville
Plumas County, California, and George E. Miller who died in said Sonoma County
California about eight months before the death of said testatrix died who was
when he died a minor and Henry McReynolds who is 21 -- years of age and resides
in Sonoma County -- State of California, and E J. Fowler residing in said
Sonoma Calif. over 21 years of age, and named as said will as
devisees[?]-- That the subscribing witnesses of
said will are L. L. Cannon and C. C. Farnsworth, both of whom reside in said
County of Sonoma State of California. That the
next of kin of said testatrix whom your petitioners are advised and believe and
therefore allege to be the heirs in law of said testatrix and the names and
ages of the same are as follows -- T. G.
Cockrill over, twenty-one years, residing at San Francisco, Cal; R. L. Cockrill
over twenty-one years of age, residing at San Francisco, Cal. Bruce G.
Cockrill, Ida J. Cannon and Helen Lake each over twenty-one years of age who
resides at Santa Rosa, Sonoma County Cal. All of whom are sons and daughters of
said testatrix -- Fred H. Miller over twenty-one years of age residing at
Greneville, Plumas County, California, William W. Fowler over twenty-one years
of age residing at San Francisco, California, E. J. Fowler over twenty one
years of age residing in Sonoma County, California and Henry McReynolds aged 21
years residing in Sonoma County State of California, all of whom are grandsons
of said testratrix, and children of daughters of testatrix who died before
testatrix. That at the time said will was
executed to wit: on the said 24th day of Dec 1881 the said testratrix was over
the age of eighteen years to wit of the age of 70 years or these aleauts[?] and
was of sound and disposing mind, and not acting under duress, menace, fraud or
under influence and was in every respect competent by last will to dispose of
her estate. That said will is in writing, signed
by her said testatrix and attested by said subscribing witnesses of the request
of said testatrix, subscribing their names to the said will in the presence of
the said testatrix and in the presence of each other and that [?] four
petitioners are advised and therefore allege said witnesses at the tie of
attesting the execution of said will were and are now competent.
That -- Ida J. Cannon and William W. Fowler would
in said will as executors thereof consent to act as such. Wherefore your petitioners pray that the said will be
admitted to probate and that letters cis [?] be issued to your petitioners and
that for that purpose Your Honor and the Clerk of said Court appoint a time for
proving said will and that all persons interested be notified and directed to
appear at the [?] appointed for proving the source and that subpoenas be
directed to issue to the said subscribing witnesses to the said will residing
in said Sonoma County and that all other necessary and proper orders way the
