Dear
Friends of Spring Hill Cemetery,
Summer has made it to Spring Hill. Our June workday found the cemetery still moist from late rains, but by yesterday the cemetery had dried out, with the ground hard and raking dusty. Temperatures were cool for us, with shade and light breezes making our workday ideal. We ended up a wonderful group of 10, luckily - 5 of whom were late RSVPing, and I had worried that we might not have enough for a viable work party. All in all a very successful workday.
Our focus was on path maintenance, as the first 2 images show. Last winter's rains made for ideal growing conditions in the cemetery, and image three show a thriving native redbud tree in the enclosure (thank you Betsy and Jim!!) with a lovely climbing heritage rose bush that Charlie is pointing to on the outside of the enclosure (thank you Kirston!). Hopefully these plants will continue to flourish and bring us beautiful color in the years to come. Our last image is of our group.
Thanks to all of you who came out to help!! And hope to see many of you on October 4th. Please mark your calendars to save the date, and join us, if you can.
Best Regards,
Sue
