Dear
Friends of Spring Hill Cemetery,
It was great to get back to the cemetery on Friday. I had hoped for a big group, but had four last minute cancellations. Hard times for people. But, seven of us did gather under beautiful spring skies. We were welcomed by the sprouting lilies of the valley and Luther Burbank narcissus. Truly a lovely time of year.
The cemetery was in more disarray than I have seen in the last few years. There were a few downed large limbs, and eucalyptus debris and oak leaves nearly obliterated the paths. Luckily we had several strong volunteers to tackle the task. Armed with tools supplied by Regional Parks (THANKS!!), we were able to tame the chaos, and leave the cemetery in its usual serene state.
Spring is often the time we probe for missing/buried headstones. With so much path maintenance required, we were unable to continue our hunt. I am hoping we will be able to do so at the next workday, should we get a big enough group. With so much uncertainty in our lives at the moment, we haven't our usual year long schedule of workdays. I have requested April 30th from Regional Parks for our next meeting. I am hoping to hear soon from John Ryan if that date works for Regional Parks. Please pencil April 30 into your calendars, and once I hear back from Parks I will let you know.
Hoping you are all staying well, and hope to see you at the cemetery soon!
Best Regards,
Sue
