Dear
Friends of Spring Hill Cemetery,
Yesterday was absolutely miserable at the cemetery. Recent rains were supposed to have subsided by our workday start time, but we arrived to continuing rain and a very sodden cemetery. There were lakes in the paths, mud everywhere, and huge strips of eucalyptus littering the cemetery floor. Debris was completely water ladden, and heavy to haul off. Under most unpleasant working conditions, five of us toiled on through the discomfort and managed to fill our dump truck. Although conditions were tough, our little band was able to clear most of the paths, pulled much of the invasive thistle off the southern border, and dragged off the downed limbs caused by recent atmospheric rivers. As we left (last picture), blue skies peaked out from the clouds, and the cemetery was back to its usual picturesque self.
We would like to have our next day on June 2, 2023, but I need to check the date with Regional Parks before confirming. Pencil it in, though, and I will keep you posted!
THANK YOU TO ALL WHO STUCK IT OUT WITH ME YESTERDAY!! And to Regional Parks for providing amazing support - tools, dump truck - even cheetos...
Best Regards,
Sue
