Spring Hill Cemetery Work Days

Dear Friends of Spring Hill Cemetery,

Yesterday's workday was lovely with perfect temperature and lots of sunshine. Eight of us gathered at the cemetery, 5 volunteers and 3 of Sonoma County's youth core, led by Isaiah. Our main focus was on clearing the paths and removing downed debris and branches.

At March's workday, we found the cemetery a mess following the winter storms. Yesterday, it was in pretty good shape. The youth core did quite a bit of weed whacking, to control the wild grasses and weeds as we get into summer, and also cut up large downed limbs and suckers from trees. The volunteers concentrated on the paths. The large downed tree from last workday fell on and seems to have taken down another tree - we will be talking to Parks about next steps for it. We were able to leave the cemetery in great shape to face the summer months.

I am hoping to have our next workday on August 21, pending County approval. I will keep you posted on the date when it becomes confirmed.

Thanks to those who joined in the workday. And many thanks to Regional Parks for all their support with tool truck, dump truck, snacks (particularly the cheetoes...), and the youth core.

Best Regards,

Sue
