Dear Friends of Spring Hill Cemetery, Yesterday was the first workday of the year for us. Winter storms have been brutal this year, and Sally had surveyed the cemetery a few weeks ago and reported huge fir limbs down, and paths clogged with debris. We were expecting chaos, but were pleasantly surprised to find that Regional Parks must have been by in the interim. The large fir branch had been chainsawed into pieces for us, and the major large debris pieces had been cleared, leaving us with manageable tasks (First attachment). It was a beautiful day, full of sunshine. Even our lilies and narcissus had started to bloom (second and third attachments). We spent our time hauling away downed branches and tree limbs, raking the paths, and loading the dump truck (Attachments 4 5 and 6). We left the cemetery in beautiful shape. Attachment 7 is of our workgroup. One of our volunteers, Mike Von der Porten, has been furthering his father's work on Sir Francis Drake for some time now. This summer he will be guiding hikes and giving talks on this historic part of our local California history. The last attachment has all the details on the talk and hike - it will be offered on four different dates this summer. I will definitely hope to join one of the dates. I will be tied up for the next several weeks and have trouble at the moment making plans, but I am hoping to have another workday on March 31st. Pencil in the date, and watch for more information on it closer to the time. Thanks for all the support!
Best Regards, Sue
