Spring Hill Cemetery Work Days

Dear Friends of Spring Hill Cemetery,

It was a glorious day at the cemetery. We had a large group to tackle all of our tasks, Parks had brought us the usual well-stocked tool trailer and dump truck, and we had sunny skies with a lovely cool breeze. Although conditions have been extremely dry, the cemetery is holding up well. And to top off our efforts, we had a sumptuous feast at the Flack's, following our labors.

Betsy and Jim have extensive knowledge of native plants. They worked identifying what we have at the cemetery, and pulled out invasive species (image 1). Betsy gave some great ideas on what we might do in future to boost the health of what we have. I look forward to more of their input and exploring their ideas.

The main group of us focused on maintaining the paths, cleaning bird residue off stones, and controlling the eucalyptus debris (images 2,3 and 4). We completely filled our dump truck, and left the cemetery in very good shape.

We were then treated to a wonderful meal at neighboring Betsy and Jim's house. Not only was the food delicious and the views amazing, but also the conversation on local history was delightful (images 5 and 6). Many thanks to Betsy and Jim for joining us for the work party at the cemetery and for welcoming us into their home.

Thanks to all of you who joined us (image 7), and I look forward to seeing those of you who can make it at our next workday, August 21.

Best Regards,

Sue
