Friends of Spring Hill Cemetery,
Eight of us gathered today at Spring Hill under cool, sunny skies. Paul Schoch came to update our official map with our latest discoveries (images 2 and 4), and other tasks were to tidy paths, remove the dead stump from the Zilhart enclosure (image 2), and clear underbrush (image 3). We saw with dismay that someone had been writing on the back of several of our headstones. Luckily, it seemed to be in charcoal, and we were able to clean the images off with just gentle monument soap (image 1).
We just have one more workday for 2016. Please mark your calendars for November 18th, and come and join us if you can. Together we have completed 10 years of restoration on Spring Hill. Thank you all for your efforts! Soon I will be putting together dates for 2017 work parties. If you have any date requests, please let me know.
