Mrs. Mary Mize

Her Death Occurs Near this City

Wednesday Evening.

Mrs. Mary Mize, widow of the late Merril Mize, and daughter of the late Richard Fulkerson, one of the oldest settlers in this community, died at the residence of her son-in-law, Norris Brittian, near this city, at 9:45 Wednesday night. Her death though sudden, was not entirely unexpected as she had been suffering for some months from heart disease.

Mrs. Mize was born in Indiana in 1833, and came to California in 1854, crossing the plains in company with Jacob Harris, John Fulkerson, Tribble Fulkerson, and her husband and father. They settled in Santa Rosa, and for many years have formed one of the well known families of this county. Deceased leaves three children, Mrs. Norris Brittian, John Mize and Fred Mize, and has a large circle of friends who will sincerely mourn her loss.

The funeral will take place on Friday, New Years' day, at 2 o'clock, from the residence of Norris Brittain, near this city. This internment will be at the Fulkerson cemetery.
