William Bentley deposition, Hardin County, October 30, 1852.

State of Kentucky

Hardin County Sct.

30 Oct 1852

William Bentley appeared at the Hardin County Court, 76 years of age born in Pennsylvania on 9 Aug 1776, and that he came to Kentucky in the year 1789 or thereabouts.

...that he was personally acquainted with John Fulkerson late of Grayson Co. who was a Revolutionary Pensioner and drew Eighty dollars per annum.

He was personally acquainted with Margaret Fulkerson that her maiden name was Margaret Bruner...

...that he was personally acquainted with Peter Fulkerson their oldest child that Peter is 77 and was born in 1775.

Had first become acquainted with John and Margaret in 1802 upwards of fifty years ago.

...that they were living then as man and wife and had several children and the said Peter was the oldest of said Children and was then about twenty seven years of age and was married and had children. How many he had at the time referred to he can not remember but he knows that he had five children, to wit William, James, Peggy, Polly, and Nancy. That the said William married Cassa Ann Bentley and the said James, married Elizabeth Allison Bentley both of whom were the daughters of him the said William Bentley. That he has always understood from the Fulkerson family and has no doubt of the fact that John and Margaret Fulkerson were married in the year 1775 in Sussex County, New Jersey. That he is confident of the date of said marriage for he reasons that he, the said William Bentley was born in August 1776 and the said Peter he knows is about a year older then he is and consequently must have been born in 1775...

He has no interest in the case.

Signed with his mark.

Attested by A. C. Cook and Peter Stuart, 30 Oct 1852.

Certified by John Morris, County Judge of Hardin County, and Hugh J. Dunuran, Clerk, 30 Oct 1852.
