Service.

No evidence of enrollment or service in the office of the Adjutant General or Second Auditor. Alexander Hicks late Lieut. of Co. F 3 Tenn. Mtd. Vol. swears that Thompson had been acting in the capacity of spy bringing & carrying in information for some months prior to Jany 22, 1865.

Death.

On which day the Company were engaged with the enemy. Thompson went into the fight with the Co. and did good service & was mortally wounded in action. This information was mostly obtained from the men who were captured. Nat. Pickering & Isaac Crawford swear that they were members of the Co. & in the engagement with the rebels Jany 22, 1865 and know that Thompson volunteered temporarily & went to battle with the Co. & was killed --or was mortally wounded and died in 2 or three hours --they claim personal knowledge of the facts, he fell at the feet of Crawford. Adjutant General reports the witnesses were captured Jany 22, 1865. Martha J. Baxter certified to be creditable swears that the above named battle was fought near her residence & that Vincent Thompson was brought to her house mortally wounded & died of his wounds about two hours from when he was brought in.
