Case of Lydia M. Thompson , No. 130.656

On this 27th day of January , 1876, at

Cherry Grove , County of Washington

State of Tennessee before me, G. H. Ragsdale

a Special Agent of the Pension Office, personally appeared Lydia M

Thompson , who, being by me duly sworn according to law,

declares that her age is 48 years, that he resides at Cherry Grove

County of Washington , State of Tennessee and that

She is the pensioner in the above entitled case; That her late husband, Vincent Thompson, first enlisted in the 8th Tennessee Cavalry and went through the lines to Kentucky; That he took sick before he was mustered into service and left his company and went to some relatives and afterwards scouted his way home; That he could not stay home on account of the rebels and had to scout about in the mountains; That after awhile he came home and said he had joined Captain Bowers' Company of Mounted Men; That he was killed as affiant afterwards learned near the Chimney Top Mountains while engaged with his company in a fight with the rebels; That the affiant went to the house of one Green Baxter where her husband died after he was shot and brought him home for a funeral; That this is all she knows about the circumstances under which he was killed; That affiant paid her agent Richard Humphries 10 percent of the first payment of her pension for his services in prosecuting her claim for pension.

[and] she [further declares that he has no interest, direct or indirect, in the claim
of _______________ for a Pension;] and further saith not.

1876, and I certify that the contents were fully made known to affiant before signing.
