A
deed to transfer a slave. I Edward Wright... in consideration of four
hundred dollars to me in hand paid by Daniel Alexander Lammonds... hereby fully
acknowledge, <?> granted, bargain & sold... a certain negro man slave
named Ephraim about thirty years old to have and to hold the sd Ephraim unto
the sd Daniel Alexander Lammonds his heirs ap<?> Exr & Adm forever
& discharged of any and all incumbrances whatever... Signed by "his
mark." Attested to by A. B. Lammonds and Augen<?> Lammonds. Since it is
presumed that Edward Wright died around 1842, is this and some of the following
entries his heirs or another Edward (since these are signed by a mark rather
than a signature which E. A. Wright used on the Montgomery Co. deeds attributed
to him, it can be assumed this person is not E. A.)? |
