This parcel
(NE 1/4 Sect. 30 T7N R1W) was sold to Dr. J. W. Morris by E. A.'s children a
few years after E. A. passed away. There are three deeds for the same piece of
property with J. W. Morris listed as grantee: The first deed filed 20
December 1909, and recorded in Woodruff County Deeds, Book X Page 53. It
listed F. P. Wright, R. L. Wright, J. A. Wright & Sarah A. Wright / and
Sallie Wright, Ida Wright, Callie Wright, their wives respectively, as
grantors. R.L. Wright, J.A. Wright, & Sarah
Wright were notarized as living in Logan County, AR. The second deed was recorded in Book X Page 54,
25 December 1995, lists Geo. E. Wright, J. F. Wright and Chas. C. Wright as
grantors (hiers of Edward B. Wright). J. F. Wright was notarized as living in
Hardeman Co., TN, 1 Jan 1910. The third deed was
recorded in Book X Page 55, 15 December 1901, and lists M. T. Wright,
Nancy A. Jordan, and Sarah E. Holland as grantors. All grantors unmarried.
Sarah E. Holland signs name as a mark. Nancy A. Jordan is notarized as living
in Randolf Co., NC, 25 December 1909.
Dr. Morris had moved into the
DeView area in 1900 and passed away in 1979 at the age of 104. Besides being
the town doctor he was a successful farmer (his first farm was bought from
Richard Chappel near Possum Creek and Bayou DeView in 1901) and business man.
He built a cotton Gin in McCrory, had the first electrified home in DeView, and
owned the first car (a "Hupmobile."). An article about him can be found in
