Good Hope Baptist Church

(Picture taken in 1997)

Good Hope Baptist Church was built from material salvaged from the original Beards Baptist Church. From Cemetery Records of Woodruff County, Arkansas, by Adelia C. Kittrell and Curtis A. Houston, Vol II (reprinted by The Woodruff Country Historical Society, 1992), p. 153:
...on April 15, 1897, the Goodhope Missionary Baptist Church, represented by deacons, J. W. Gibson, J. W. Alfred and R. L. Wright purchased from E. W. Wilson and wife 2 1/2 acres of land located west and north of the northwest corner of the [Beards] cemetery about 20 rods. The church on March 26, 1940 sold this land to Alton Wright and they tore down the church building and moved it northeast to the present location of the Goodhope Missionary Baptist Church on the highway No. 145.
