Notes:
In Marriage Records of Allen County, Kentucky 1815-1865, compiled by Ona A. Willoughby (Scottsville, KY: 1938), there is a listing for a Harrison Cockrill, marrying a Levina Stovall, 11-17-1836, with Jesse L. Hickman as the officiant. I have very little information about her or her family. A Thomas and George Stovall appear in the 1815 Tax Records for Allen County, Kentucky. They both owned property on Difficult Creek. Only Thomas appears in the 1816 records for Allen County: he is listed as owning 50 acres on Bay's Fork. He is also listed as owning one black person over the age of 16 as well as two horses. The Stovall name is not uncommon for the area of Virginia where the Cockrill family had come from either. Her death year comes from family records though it has been probably determined from the marriage date of Harrison and Ruhamy. |
