Notes:
Her brother
William, married James Anderson Cockrill's
sister, Cynthia. It is not clear how her
Blackburn family is connected to the Blackburn
family which Henry Beaver's twin-sister married into. In the letter by Mary M. Peck written on May 22, 1832 in Scottsville, Allen Co., KY it describes the arrival of James and Elizabeth to her neighborhood. Her daughter, in "Memory of my Childhood by Lucinda Ellen Cockrill Claypool" (recorded by Carolyn Claypool Thorsen), mentions her mother's death and gravesite: |

My mother died when I was 2 years old. She left 3 children, one brother older than I and a young baby brother who died in a few months after mother. I was the fourth child. Two died before I was born... I remember what a lonesome place the grave yard was. It was not a public grave yard. It had been hazel thicket cleared out enough to buy a few -- my mother, 3 brothers, one aunt and 3 cousins. |
