Bounty Land Claim No. 20293 for Samuel Harris, dated Nov. 20, 1850.

County of Davis

On this fourth day of November A. D. one thousand eight hundred and fifty, personally appeared before me Abram Weaver a clerk of the district court, duly authorized to administer oaths within and for the County and State aforesaid Samuel Harris aged fifty four years, a resident of Davis County in the State of Iowa, who being duly sworn according to law, declaring, the his the identical Samuel Harris who was a volunteer in the company commanded by Captain William Ganaway in the Thirteenth Regiment of Kentucky Troops commanded by Colonel John Davis in the war with Great Britain Declared by the United States on the 18th day of June A. D. 1812 that he volunteered at Grisensic County Kentucky on or about the 24th day of August A. D. 1814 for the term of six months and continued in actual service in said war, for the term of six months and was honorably discharged or furloughed at Fort Washington (Mississippi) on the 3rd day of April A. D. 1815 as will appear by the muster rolls of said company, Mr. Samuel Harris says that he was furloughed to return home and peace was declared, and he never had any certificate of discharge. He makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the Bounty Land to which he may be entitled under the "act granting bountyland to certain officers and soldiers who have been engaged in the military service of the United States" passed September 28th 1850.
