Samuel Harris 1812 Pension records

Bounty Land Claim No. 178683 for Samuel Harris, dated May 18, 1855.

 

State of Missouri

Gentry County

On this the 6th day of June A. D. 1855 before me a Justice of the peace in and for the County and State aforesaid personally appeared Samuel Harris aged 59 years who being duly sworn according to law declaring that he is the identical Samuel Harris who was a private in the Company commanded by Captain Gunnay in the 13 regiment of Kentucky Militia Commanded by Colonel John Davis in the War of 1812 that he volunteered at Litchfield Grasonsic County in the State of Kentucky on or about the 1st day August 1814 and was honorably discharged at -- the applicant state that he left New Orleans under furlough and his Captain died before he could get his discharge he further states that he has received for said services bounty land warrant No. 2759 of 80 acres in ? under the act of September 28, 1850 by reason of Said Service which he has since legally disposed of and cannot now return he makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the additional bounty land to which he is entitled under the act of March the 3d 1855 never having received bounty land except as above stated and he here by constitutes and appoints Charles C. Tucker of Washington City D. C. his attorney to prosecute his claim and process his warrant, here by authorizing and empowering his said attorney to obtain from the proper authorities at Washington City or elsewhere certified copies of any ? records or documents in which his said service may be corded and to process any and all other evidence that may be necessary to establish his claim as fully as he might or could do if personally present and revoking and countermanding all other authority that may have been given form the above specified purpose.

Sworn to subscribed and acknowledged before me the day and year first above written and on the same day personally claim before me Josiah Downey and Charles Norris residents of Gentry County Mo to me known as credible witness who being duely sworn according to law declare that they are personally acquainted with Samuel Harris who has made and subscribed the foregoing declaration that they were present and saw him sign his name by making his mark to said declaration and that from their personal acquaintance with him, they believed that he is the identical person who performed the military services there in ? and who has received a warrant then for and they further swear that they are disinterested in the claim.
