Much of early Wakeland Family genealogy is
undocumentable and speculative.
I have never found
this particular individual listed except in unverifiable, family histories
compiled by other family researchers.
This individual
supposedly came to America in 1727 and arrived at Baltimore, Maryland. Lived
for a short time in Fairfax, Virginia. He then settled in Hanover County, VA
and had three children.
The listed source
for the Later Day Saints' International Genealogical Index (IGI) early
Wakeland family information is #8406206, "Dorotha J. Mangum." She listed as her
reference source an article: "Western Waters" by a W. J. Skull, in Ohio
County Times, a newspaper published Oct. 6, 1983. My search for this
newspaper at various places, including the Newspaper Room of the Library of
Congress (also with the aid of a librarian there) could not find this newspaper
or any verification to her sources. |
