Notes:
He is enumerated as Jason Blackwell
in the listing for his mother in the 1860 Census for Green Plains,
Northampton Co., NC. According to Don Lott, a Holland family researcher, Jason moved to Texas about the same time as his brother, William H. H. Holland, settled in Arkansas. From Don Lott (30 Jun 2003 & 1 Jul 2003): |

Jason moved his family to Indian Terr. about 1897. and they lived there untill 1941 when most of the boys moved to Ca. The family of William moved back to Ok. in 1951. Homer's family is still living in the Fresno area.
At the time the Jason Holland family moved to Indian Terr. the eastern part of Ok was controlled by the Five Civilized Tribes. The whites living there had to have permission to live in the area. I have found that a lot of people from Texas went there around the 1896,7,and 8 time frame. I believe this was due to the fact that Ok. would soon become a state. In 1897 the western half became Oklahoma Terr. and the part given to the Five Civilized Tribes remained Indian Terr. Anyone living in the Terr. had to rent land from the tribe controlling the area where they lived. In the Holland family case they lived in the Chickasaw Nation.
