Notes:
There is a listing for a Andrew J. Foster filing Federal Land Patent #5487 on 13 Mar 1895, for a piece of land in Section 23, Township 19S, Range 5E in Monterey County. This is a section of land on the Arroyo Seco next to land homesteaded by his mother-in-law and his wife's siblings. In a "Declaratory Statement For Cases Where The Land Is Not Subject To Private Entry" filled August 1883, Andrew J. Foster claims that he improved the "N1/2 of SE 1/4 and S1/2 of the NE 1/4" of Section 22, Township 19S, Range 5E in Monterey Country (thanks to Bessie Swenson for this information). This land and subsequent purchases of the surrounding area, remains in the possession of the family. The "water tank" in the following typographical map was built by the Foster family.
