September 19th 1812 Church Meeting held at the Big Spring Meeting House 19th Sept. 1812. After Divine Worship proceeded to business. It is agreed on that Bros. John Wood and Benjamin Wood go to Bro. Sinnet Atwood and site him to the next Church Meeting at this place concerning a complaint adledgd (alleged) to his charge that it is thought that he has drank too much spirits. It is also agreed on that Bros. Daniel Strickler and Daniel Beaver site Polly McKnight to the next Church Meeting at Hawksbill Meeting House concerning a complaint against her, also to request Sister Ruffner to attend at the same time. Wm. Nund (?) received by a Christian experience and Lydia Wood & Wm. Wood also to be Baptized the third Sunday in October next. Elder Coonts, Modr. Jesse Wood, Clk.
October 17th 1812 The Church met at the Big Spring Meeting House on Saturday the 17th Oct. 1812 and after praise and prayer proceeded to business. Brethren John and Benjamin Wood are again appointed to cite Brother Sinnet Atwood to attend the next Church Meeting. (the above reference to citing Mr. Atwood to has been marked through in the original ledger) After some conversation appointed Brethren John Skelton, Isaac Hersberger, John Jesse and Benjamin Wood to go to and converse with Brother Abraham Spidler (Spitler) concerning a difference between him and Brother John Koontz on Wednesday after the first Lords Day in next month at Mill Run Meeting House. The reference concerning Brother Senet Atwood is settled.
November 14th 1812. The Church met at the Big Spring on Saturday the 14th Nov. 1812 and after praise and prayer proceeded to business. After a lengthy discussion on a difference between Brothers Koontz and Spitler it was then agreed upon that Brother D. Beaver should notify Bro. Spitler to (attend) the next meeting to answer such questions as should be required of the Church at this place. And then the meeting adjourned.
December 19th 1812 The Church met at the Big Spring Meeting House on Saturday the 19th Dec. 1812. After Divine Worship proceeded to business. The business of Bro. Spitler is left over till the general meeting which is agreed on to be on the first Saturday in January next, also to call Elders Fristoe, Moofit, Conner, Hendron and Brethren Jeremiah McKay, Henry Menefee, Shackleford & Thomas Buck as helps to assist in such particular business of importance. Ordered that Bro. Ned Blackman should have a letter of dismission.
January 2nd 1813 Saturday January the 2nd AD 1813 at a called Church Meeting at the Big Spring with helps called in. Present Elders Frestoe, Moffit, & Hendren, also Brother Thomas Buck & B. Daniel Clow. After Praise and Prayer entered into business as follows Viz: Elder Fristoe chosen as Moderator. B. J. Koontz laid his complaint before the Church and the Church replyed (replied) to it. B. Koontz acknowledged his error in faith brought against him whereas difficulties have arisen in the Church at the Big Spring concerning some apparent contradictory expressions of Elder Koontz's. It is resolved therefore that it is the opinion of this Church that the expressions were the effects of infirmity and that we believe him to be an honest sabourner (?) in the Gospel and a man of veracity and truth in his general character. This being done the petition came forward, the voice of the Church taken, and found unanimously in favor of granting it the branch of this Church commonly assembled at Mill Run Meeting House are dismissed from us. Brother Koontz's charge against Brother A. Spidler (Spitler) amounted to nothing and are finally settled. The bounds of the Big Spring Church is as high as the furnace, the Brethren on either side are at liberty to join what Church they please. Adjourned Elder Fristoe, Modr. Jas Modesitt, Clk.
