A Larkin Venable is listed in the 1810 Census for Warren Co., Kentucky, as the head of a household containing 2 males between the ages of 26 and 45 and 1 female over the age of 45. From Ellen Venable Poteet: "Was still living with his widowed mother in the 1810 census." Larkin Venable is also listed in the early tax records for Warren and Allen County, Kentucky as owning property on Bays Fork (and also given to him by his father). In Marriage Records of Allen County, Kentucky 1815-1865, compiled by Ona A. Willoughby (Scottsville, KY: 1938), there is a listing for a Larkin L. Venable, age 23, marrying a Catherine Meredith, 1-26-1836, with Jesse L Hickmen, listed as the officiant (same individual who officiated other Cockrill marriages during that time). There is also a listing for a 34 year old L. S. Venable marrying a Cynthia Linn, 1-8-1845, with H. Landers, officiant. It is uncertain who these Venables are at this time.
