John Fulkerson is on the 1850 census of Warwaick Co. Ind. He has a wife Elizabeth and several children. He apparently moved to Iowa in the 1860's and bought out his brothers when they moved to Calif.

  

He remarried a woman named Richardson who had children of her own, after Elizabeth died.

From a note by Wilma Perin:

 

Although the 1850 Warrick, Indiana Census lists all the children in John Fulkerson's family as Fulkerson, it is possible that the other children -- Jane, b. 1831 Levina, b. 1837 were the new wife's (Mrs. Richardson's) also there were 2 younger children. Leticia b. ca 1848 and Joseph, 1849, were John's and 2nd wife's children.
