Notes:

Biographical references to him as Fulkird Fulkerson can be found in An Illustrated History of Sonoma County, California (The Lewis Publishin Company, Chicago: 1889).

Named after his grandfather.

He may have been older or younger than his brother John, and he shows up in the 1810 Census for Grayson County, KY as having 3 boys. He is assumed to have died in the late 1830's.

It appears that his brothers and sisters, knew that Fulkard was no longer living at the time of the pension request of 1852, when John's and Margaret's heirs were listed in order to gain the benefits of John's Revolutionary War pension. In addition, Fulkard may have had some kind of break with his parents and Kentucky siblings since no mention is made of him or his family in this pension request. Other pieces of information about Fulkard's father, including whether or not he was born in Germany (or the intriguing story about an "old Dutch Bible" implying the correct ancestry that appears in John's pension files), his age when he died, and his Revolutionary War participation also appear not to have been known by Fulkard's children or at least by his Sonoma grandchildren (whom I assume were largely responsible for the biographies of Richard and T. S. Fulkerson). Considering the amount of pride that the Santa Rosa Fulkersons had in describing the lives of their ancestors in these "vanity" biographies, it could be assumed therefore that such information about John was not transferred to them by Fulkard for whatever reason.

One also wonders why Phebe Bice (Fulkerson) Harris, John's daughter and Fulkard's sister who was living in Santa Rosa during the time that the Illustrated History biographies were written (and who was also listed as an heir in the 1852 Kentucky pension request and therefore may have been more knowledgeable about the details of her parent's lives then Fulkard's children), was not identified in the biographies about the Fulkersons?
