Obituary from a clipping that my grandmother had kept (Press Democrat?), October, 1964:

Fred B. Wendt, 83, member of a pioneer Sonoma County family, died yesterday in a Santa Rosa hospital after a long illness.

Mr. Wendt was born in Santa Rosa. His parents, Fred and Pauline Wendt, came to the area in 1864 and made their home on a ranch on St. Helena road.

The younger Mr. Wendt, who was in the abstract business all of his life, had been employed for 19 years with Alameda Title Insurance, Oakland. He later worked for many years in the Sonoma County Recorder's office and most recently with Title Guarantee Co.

His home was at 2222 Montgomery dr.

Survivors include his wife, Maymie Wendt, Santa Rosa; son, Harold Wendt, San Leandro; granddaughter, Marcia Harwood, Sacramento; grandson, Bruce Wendt, San Leandro, and three great-grandchildren.

He was also the uncle of Rayford Leggett and Mrs. Gladys Stolting, both of Santa Rosa; Claude, Steven and Milton Wendt, and the late Douglas Wendt.

Funeral arrangements are being made at the Eggen & Lance Mortuary.
