...Notice specifically that there was a brother named "Hardress" in Virginia. I found a marriage, Hardress Hawkins in Orange Cty, NC in 1794. This, along with John's marriage in 1796 lends credit to the idea that this is indeed the family that went to Orange Cty, NC from Virginia... "Marion County, Indiana Marriages 1822-1836"-- HAWKINS, Hardress AVERY, Betsy 23 Feb 1834. You'll notice that the age of this Hardress would make him your John's son or even the son/grandson of the Hardress from Virginia. If we could tie this down, I think it would put the Virginia to NC to Indiana/Mississippi Hawkins in a tight package.
