His name is from a list compiled by Marilyn and David Alsip, and who list his date of birth as being between 1808 - 1842.

This is fairly speculative at this point but it is indicated from the information in the Claypool Cemetery and the contiguous location of three stones, that he was known as S. C. Claypool, Jr., that is first wife, Elizabeth (b. 26 Jan 1826; d. 28 May 1862), is buried in this cemetery and a daughter, M. L. Claypool (b. 21 Apr 1854) is buried next to her. His second wife was known as Abbie and their infant child, Katie B. Claypool is buried in the same row as the previous family with an unknown stone between them. It does not appear that either Stephen or Abbie are buried in this cemetery.

Date of birth is listed as 3 Apr 1817 by Wayne Osborne, a Claypool Family historian (email 05Feb04). However, there is also a Claypool, Stephen who might be the present individual, listed in the 1811 tax records for Warren County, KY. He owns a 135 and 25 acre lot along Barren River and owned four mares and one black person. The individual listed in this record could be an as of yet unidentfied great grandfather as well.
