Notes:

(Copied from Laura Nell Brewer)   (Copied from Laura Nell Brewer)

Known to the family as Milton or Uncle Milt. Listed in family Bible as Milton S. Warner. Marriage to Lucy also lists him as Milton, though in other records listed as S. M.

Listing in Woodruff County Marriage Records 1864-1967 :
  Warner, S. M. 24 ; Mittie Cherry 20, 1 20 1892, Bk. F Pg. 621
  Warner, Milton 26 ; Lucy B. O'Brien 16, 1 17 1894, Bk. G Pg. 459
From Woodruff County, AR Loose Probate Records, 1862 - 1900 (Arkansas History Commission), p. 150:
  WARNER, Cora & Willie T. -- Drawer 7 - Folio 25 - Roll 39
Gdn: 19 Mar 1896, S. M. Warner was appt'd gdn of Cora M. WARNER and Willie T. WARNER. Cora M. is listed as age 17 years and Willie T. as age 4 months. I believe the 17 years is an error and should be 17 months. On some of the papers in this folio, Cora is listed as Cora M. and on others as Cora L. WARNER. Which is correct? Cora and Willie T. were children of Lucy B. WARNER, dec'd, whose husband was S. M. WARNER. However, the papers do not say whether S. M. Warner was also the father of these children. He probably was.
Gdn: 20 May 1899, George Johnson appt'd gdn of Cora L. WARNER, a minor.
Petition: In a petition to the Apr 1902 term of court, George JOHNSON said his ward, Cora L. WARNER, was then 8 years of age. He signed the petition as "Geo. JOHNSON, Guardian Cora M. WARNER," but in the body of the petition he listed her as Cora L. WARNER. The entire petition is in JOHNSON's script. In a petition dated 23 Oct 1899, JOHNSON said his ward was age 5 and listed her name as Cora M. WARNER. Which is correct, Cora L. or Cora M. WARNER?
Receipt: On a receipt dated 13 Oct 1900 at Fakes, Ark, Maggie JOHNSON acknowledged receiving payment for board, clothing & washing for Cora M. WARNER from 13 Dec 1895 to 13 Oct 1900, 58 months, at $5.00 per month.

From an entry in the Warner Family Bible (if I have interpreted it correctly), there was a Cora M. Warner born in 1894 who aparently was S. Milton Warner's daughter. To add to this confusion, S. M Warner was also a witness to his nephew's (William Rufus Warner) marriage to Cora Lee Holland (b. 1875) who was known as Cora L. Warner in several documents. This couple was living in Fakes, AR in 1899 at the time of their marriage (Cora Lee Warner might be the person paying for the 58 months of board with Maggie Johnson?). Early pictures of Cora Lee also bares a striking resemblance (could this photo be misidentified?) to the photograph believed to be S. M. Warner's daughter.
