DEATH OF TURNER
WAKELAND
Turner R. Wakeland,
son of P. D. Wakeland of this place, and who was a resident of this county
until last spring, died at Martinsville, Indiana, Mon day, August 1st. Mr.
Wakeland had been a sufferer from rheumatism and chronic troubles for several
years, and went to the mineral springs at the above mentioned place last
spring, hoping to gain relief. At first the treatment appeared to benefit him,
and his friends were hoping for his recovery, but of late he has been gradually
growing worse. Last Saturday his father was telegraphed for and Mr. Wakeland
left here Monday morning, his son John following on Tuesday. They arrived too
late too see him alive, but in time for the funeral. Turner Wakeland was a man
of ability and energy, a friend to all, and most respected by those who knew
him best. He leaves a wife and one child who will probably remain in
Indiana.
