Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Holland,
82, pioneer resident of Woodruff county, died Monday, Feb. 15, 1937, at her
home in McCrory, following an illness of several days. She was born in Raleigh, N.C., moved to DeView, two miles south of McCrory, with her parents at an early age. With her husband, the late William Henry Holland, she helped build DeView and McCrory into civic and church communities. She was a member of the Baptist Church. She leaves four daughters, Mrs. Naomi Miller, of Minneapolis; Mrs. Cora Warner of Harrison; Mrs. Daisy Neely of Siloam Springs, and Mrs. Sam C. Bunch of McCrory; two sons, Henry Holland of Texarkana and John Holland of Scott; two brothers, Taylor Wright and James A. Wright of Magazine; 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Feb. 16, at the Baptist Church with the pastor, the Rev. A. J. Hyatt, assisted by the Rev. W. L. Oliver of the Methodist church officiating. Burial was in Odd Fellows cemetery with Funeral Director Walter W. Raney in charge. Out-of-town friends and relatives attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Holland, Texarkana; Mrs. Cora L. Warner, Harrison; Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Holland and daughter Patsy Jo Ann, Grovetown Texas; Mrs. J. W. Neely and daughter, Alta, Siloam Springs; Mr. and Mrs. John Holland, Scott; Mr. Wiley Warner, Kensett; Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Rainwater and children, Randall Keech and Betsy Jean; Mrs. Florence Reneau, Augusta. |
