Death's Doings.
___________________
Charles A. Wakeland
died at his home northwest of town on Wednesday morning, Jan. 14, 1903, at 9.30
o'clock, after a severe illness of about three weeks' duration, the cause of
his death being typhoid pneumonia. Mr. Wakeland came to this place from the
east about two years ago, and during his residence here had proven himself to
be an honest, industrious and courteous gentleman, and had made a wide circle
of friends. He purchased the Fyfe ranch some time ago, and was building up a
home for himself and family, and while working on his barn some weeks ago he
contracted a severe cold which terminated in his death. He was a native of
Indiana, aged 33 years, and leaves a wife and two small children.
The funeral took
place from his late home on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock under the auspices
of Century Lodge, No. 134, Fraternal Brotherhood, Rev. Gaston of Santa Rosa
conducting the services. The internment was in the Sebastopol cemetery. The
family are shared in their deep sorrow by the entire community.
