Born the year before her father went away for the Civil War, and was the youngest child in the household during that time. There is a two year difference between her and Clytus (the average for 19th century families) and a four year difference between her and John. She is enumerated with her husband and family in Cedar Prcnt., Boone Co., NE as 38 year old, Eliza J. Thompson born in Indiana in the Soundex index for the 1900 Census. Apparently she and her family moved to Santa Rosa, shortly after this time. Eliza continued the diary which was started by her mother Sarah P. and compiled a family history list. For what purpose this list was done instead of just writing such details down in a family bible is not known, but considering that such a family bible is not now extant, this list has been particularly useful in the construction of this genealogy. |
